Uwe’s career in music started when he was 14. He took baritone horn lessons with Klaus Wirsching at Hildburghausen Kreismusikschule (District Music School) and had his first musical experiences with the school’s brass band. He did his basic military service in Plauen in 1989, playing the baritone horn in the military orchestra there. In 1990, he moved to Berlin to work for the Bundespolizeiorchester München (Police Orchestra, Munich). It was here that he honed his baritone horn and trombone skills with his then music teacher, Gerhard Haas. Three years after that, Uwe relocated to the Munich Music Corps, where he was once again able to improve his musical capabilities by taking lessons with Ernst Giehl at the Richard Strauß Conservatory. Since then, Uwe has made himself irreplaceable as a fill-in for many well-known brass bands, musician at the Munich beer festival and since 1999, of course, member of the Coco Nut’s. He has been playing his latest acquisition – a 3.7 m long alphorn – since December 2004 and it’s now become one of the highlights in the Coco Nut’s’ show. |
